“Just As If I…” (Isaiah 54:1-17)

The sweet spot of chapter 54 is Justification. If you like, chapter 53 was the imputation of our sin to Jesus. 54 is the imputation of His righteousness to us. You have maybe heard ‘Just-as-if-I-hadn’t-sinned’? But better: ‘Just-as-if-I-where-Christ’! You see the one considers only 53’s imputation of our sin, but the latter considers both imputations, and only one is the gospel!
