Perhaps one of the most important chapters in the whole book we have come to today. Not just for Paul’s particular argument to the Corinthians about meat sacrificed to idols, but for the continuity of revelation in general. Here Paul treats these Gentile Corinthians like the author of Hebrews, as able to keep up with Old Testament deep theologizing! He mines the Old Testament in several parts to warn the Corinthians of their pride and their tendency to trust in their own strength (the flesh) rather than Christ.
