True humility is what Adam was supposed to live into, but failed, what Christ always lived into! Paul demonstrated this wonderfully back in 3:5 – not adequate in ourselves but our adequacy comes from God. You see, the issue is not what does Humility LOOK like, but WHO is being submitted too. Pride is the slave of self – Satan is its despot, the World, at enmity with God, is its environment. Humility is the bond-slave of Christ. We mentioned before that Paul talks a lot about BOASTING and that your Boast is your GLORY – for Paul and for any truly humble Christian, the LORD and only the LORD is everything to them. Which defines and motivates their whole life and every action. What we see in these verses is that true humility which fully submits to God is powerfully active!
