How beautiful is this benediction! how suggestive! how full of teaching! It is a summary of Christianity, a revelation of the Trinity and of the great threefold Divine work for human redemption and exaltation. It is the Pactum Salutis in a nut-shell. The closing of Paul’s letter is not insignificant. This too was inspired just like the rest of the letter … and thus we do well to understand its meaning for the Corinthians, as well as its implications for us. understanding the full blessing of God’s Work in and for us – is all we need for life and godliness! – not understanding impairs both! There is great power in being reminded of what we already have, especially in redemption!
