Though the account has many extraordinary parts we are not likely to see replayed in our lives – Luke gets at the hearts reaction and resistance to the Gospel and the gospel’s unhindered triumph through it all. We know what its like to be stubborn, or mocking and especially to be divided in our affections – but all these things cannot stop the progress of God’s Word. You and I know this (at least we profess it) – but when it comes to what it looks like in our lives, we often forget the real struggle that it is, and we shy away from diligence. Certain to lead to apathy and atrophy in our walk. What Luke teaches us here is that: when the Spirit illuminates the gospel, he energizes His people!
